I am honoured to be included in Lord David Prosser’s Super Sweet Blogging Award nominations. Lord David’s blog is barsetshirediaries, and amongst books of his authorship are the similarly titled: My Barsetshire Diary: The Daily Events of the Gentry Recorded for Posterity; More Barsetshire Diary; and The Queen’s Envoy. I’ve now read each, and reviewed the first My Barsetshire Diary isn’t my usual style of read so that I really enjoyed it is high praise indeed. I came to welcome my forays into Lord David & Lady Julia’s world as a welcome diversion from my own… Being immersed in their happenings put a smile on my face and bestowed a lightness upon my being. Of course, Oscar stole the show. I wonder if I can copy and paste the same review for the other 2… I digress…
Thank you Lord David. In the words of Oscar Wilde, I can resist anything except temptation and the temptation of this award is as sweet as its bestower, so here goes…
1. Cookies or Cake? It never ceases to be a wonder to me how just with eggs, butter, flour, sugar and vanilla I can make either. For the G.O. I add a pinch of ginger and he has Snap Biscuits to take for smoko. Sometimes at Taylors Arm I bake a simple cake with the addition of milk and either cocoa, shredded coconut, lemon, a layer of jam or fruit, which we eat still warm with a dollop of good cream, accompanied by a short black, or pot of tea.
2. Chocolate or Vanilla? Workdays I sometimes indulge in an afternoon treat, from the supermarket conveniently located downstairs in the building, that delivers both. Yalla Chocolate Mousse with Vanilla Bean Yoghurt… silky rich chocolate mousse base with a tart fragrant yoghurt top layer which you lightly blend together as you take each mouthful.
3. Favourite Sweet Treat? See No.2.
4. When Do You Crave Sweet Things The Most? See No.2
5. Sweet Nick Name? Occasionally, possibly when he forgets my name 😉 the G.O. calls me Hon.

With the disclaimers that some of them don’t do awards posts, none should feel obliged, they are in no particular order, and it is by no means a conclusive list. This is simply my way of saying, in this instance, these are my Super Sweet Blogger nominees.

Congratulations on your award EllaDee, I can never make up my mind about cake or biscuits, until cream is introduced and then it is always cake. MMM

Oh my, I’m very honoured, thank you Ella. And congrats for your own nomination. I must see if I can understand how to respond properly. 🙂

Thank you… or just respond however you feel like… as far as I’m concerned the rules are simply guidelines, somewhat like the pirate code… which is what usually happens with me 😉

David ( me !!) is delighted you decided to take part Ella and I thank you for your Thank You and the mention of my books. I’m very grateful also to the Doctor’s who treated you after reading all three though you get no kudos at all for suggesting Oscar is the star when everyone knows I am ( he says preening himself).I love your responses and heartily approve of your choices to nominate ( except Meeka who teases me whenever she has chance).
Almost time for my smoko now so I’ll expect ginger snaps by return post.

If only you were closer, I could sneak you some Snap Biscuits… the G.O. is unwilling to knowingly share… Fair enough, I’ll give you this much… you and Oscar are akin to the The Two Ronnies, The Hairy Bikers, Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis, Morecambe & Wise, Laurel & Hardy… it wouldn’t be the same without either one of you 🙂

thanks so much elladee … your afternoon treat sounds just too heavenly, thanks goodness i don’t live any where near a supermarket with such tempting sweeties! we just ate blueberries, pears and a dollop of yoghurt for dessert .. the three year old is having a sleep over tonight … so she scoffed it and instantly demanded more … she might be a super sweet blogger one day!

Next time you are in Sydney on a Saturday, Eveleigh Markets may call you… there is a Yalla stall there where you can taste test both sweet & savoury 🙂 It’s possible the three year old shares the family traits.

Haha! I laughed reading this. You know me well enough by now to know that I do NOT have a sweet tooth. (Nor am I sweet but that’s another issue). I can’t actually remember the last time I had anything remotely sweet. We have a good coffee shop here in Gib and they do produce amazing cakes, I am sure you would love them. I look at them in admiration and the thought of eating even a small piece let alone the helpings they dish up leaves me feeling queasy. But still, if you ever make it to Gib I will take you and stand you a big slice of cake with lashings of cream/jam/fruit whatever. I’ll probably have a salad.

I’ll take you up on that offer 🙂 What you haven’t factored in, is that Lord David also conferred a further, special, award, which I will pass on as is appropriate, in due course 😉

My mouth is watering after reading your answers! In particuler that chocolate mousse with yoghurt. I’ve never tried the two together but choc mousse on its own is too rich and sweet so the tang of the yoghurt should balance it nicely. -sigh- And now I’ll have to make do with hot milk and ovaltine. It’s just not going to hit the spot tonight.

I agree about the choc mousse, it’s the yoghurt that makes it. Have a look for the Yalla products in your local deli or the smaller supermarkets. The Yalla Hommus is addictive.

I know we get Jalna yoghurts but I haven’t seen this Yalla one. I might try Leos next time I’m in Kew.

Congratulations, EllaDee. You certainly are deserving of this award and others that are sure to follow. Why must we choose between cookies/biscuits and cake? I say have both, with a piece of pie on the side. Thank you for the nomination, EllaDee. It really is an honor to be nominated and included is the company of so many great blogs.

Thank you… Oh yes, pie! I’m sure you must be a distant relation… at our family “do’s” there is a dessert smorgasboard and we all have a bit of everything 🙂

Thanks 🙂 If RC is like my cats were, I suggest you don’t hide the award anywhere near anything sweet… with the chocolate stash or in the freezer with the icecream.
